Healing Hearts: The Impact of Muslim Aid in Palestine’s Crisis

About Muslim Aid

Responding to the Horn of Africa’s drought, community leaders from 17 Islamic organisations founded Muslim Aid in the United Kingdom in 1985. Their faith-based British international charity helps those suffering from poverty, hunger, disease, illiteracy, discrimination, homelessness, debt, unemployment, injustice, deprivation, lack of skills and economic opportunities or natural disaster victims. Along with offering emergency aid, they create long-term development programs targeted at giving underprivileged areas and survivors of natural catastrophes a sustainable life. Muslim Aid occupy several niches and pays particular focus to capacity building, economic empowerment, education, and the enhancement of children’s and women’s health.

About Muslim Aid work & values

Working through field offices and reliable partners in close proximity to stakeholders and beneficiaries, Muslim Aid operate worldwide.

  • Compassion and justice (Ru’ufun and ‘Adl) in all of their actions;
  • Accountability and transparency (Muhasabah and Shafafyah) to all of their stakeholders, especially the communities which they work with;
  • Action with quality (Amal m’a Jawadah): their programmes reflect and fill a gap identified by the communities they work with, with longer-term actions based upon need and capacity;
  • Respect for rights, dignity and equal opportunity (Karamah and Sawaseyah) of all peoples;
  • Empowerment (Tamkeen) empowers communities and individuals to reach their potential.

Vision & Ethos

While Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) reminds them that “every good act is charity; and the person who guides others to a good act is the one who did it; and, assuredly, God loves the act of helping the distressed!” The Holy Qur’an describes a “godly” person as someone who “gives a rightful share of their wealth to the beggar and the deprived.”. (al bayhaqi). The Prophet adds, “Love for mankind what you love for yourself!” (al-Bukhari).

Whoever saves a life, it is as if they have saved the lives of all humankind” (Qur’an 5:32).

These ideas form the foundation of Muslim Aid’s ethos; a conviction that one’s humanity is mostly derived from helping others. Those of all religions and none can do this as well.

Palestine Emergency

Over 30,000 Palestinians have died and over 68,000 have been injured in the horrific strikes on Gaza. More than 1.8 million Gazaites have been compelled to flee their houses with nowhere to hide that is safe. It is terrible to see how steadily violent things are getting. Every day, the death toll is climbing. They can rescue lives in Palestine together.

Apart from targeting civilian locations, the attacks in the Gaza Strip have comprised ground raids and airstrikes. It has claimed about 20,000 lives and caused injuries exceeding 45,000. Gaza’s over 1.8 million citizens have been driven from their homes. This concerning rise in violence will only lead to further deaths and livelihood destruction.

The World’s Largest Open-Air Prison

Many Palestinians and humanitarian groups still characterize Gaza as the biggest open-air jail in the world, a strictly regulated area with no chances for mobility, escape, or development. After sixteen years of blockades and bloodshed, the two million people living in Gaza have been utterly impoverished; one-third of Palestinians live below the poverty line. With food, drug, water, and electricity supplies at an all-time low, eighty percent of the population depends on aid for their survival. Give freely in these trying conditions to assist Gaza’s suffering people.

They are on the Ground in Palestine

they are on the ground, making sure as many emergency supplies as possible reach people as the Gaza catastrophe unfolds. Muslim Aid has been giving food, water, and medication to people suffering in Gaza despite continuous attack. See Further. For years, Muslim Aid has been serving the most defenseless. They have helped Palestine with crucial and life-saving emergency relief, healthcare access, livelihood possibilities, and construction of sustainable projects, including the Gaza water desalination facilities. For a great number of disadvantaged people, their Palestine appeal remains their lifeblood. Muslim Aid has also responded to the assaults on Masjid Al Aqsa by funding repairs and restoration of damage done to the sanctuary, Zakat distribution to those qualified, and support of leisure and educational events within the compound. Helping local people in this disastrous scenario when diseases and injuries are rising depends on Palestine receiving medical aid. Give your Zakat to Palestine so that Muslim Aid may assist in delivering urgently needed relief to Gaza.
